Hilary
Wainer BMus, MEd, DipMTh
...
founded TacpacTM and co-created the material. She has many years'
experience as a
teacher and music therapist, working alongside children with a wide
range of learning difficulties, in different settings. She has had a
special interest in those who have profound and multiple learning
difficulties (PMLD), and multi-sensory impairment (MSI). Hilary is an
accredited music therapy supervisor with the Association of
Professional Music Therapists (APMT), and has worked as a trainer and
facilitator in schools and mental health settings through the highly
popular "Beat That!" events.
She
currently works as
an early years special educational needs inclusion teacher. Hilary's
inspiration for her work comes directly from the responses and
reactions of the children, young people and adults she has worked with
over the years, and the encouragement, creative ideas and enthusiasm
from colleagues and co-workers from the wider TacpacTM community. She
loves to hear from you!

Nick for your musical input and technical wizardry in the making of the
music for Tacpac One
Tacpac Two:
We have many
people to thank for the
creation of TacpacTM Two. First, a wholehearted thanks to you, the wider TacpacTM community, which now has an international range, made close and
immediate by email and telephone. Your comments, suggestions and
enthusiasm have been so appreciated. We would like to thank:
Alexander
Massey was
instrumental in helping re-launch TacpacTM, devise activities, compose
music and perform it for TacpacTM Two. He helped develop the TacpacTM
trainings, write articles, set up the website, and bring TacpacTM to
where it is today. He has taught music and drama in schools,
trained teachers, and
conducted educational research at Oxford University, funded by the
Economic and Social Research Council, published a number of
articles and book chapters on research methodology, also editing two
education books including 'Children Learning in Context' for JAI Press.
Sadly, he is moving on from TacpacTM (Sept 2008) in order to continue his
work as a communication
specialist and singing teacher, and we will miss him.
Mabel
Prichard School and
Head Teacher Jane Wallington for letting us loose on the pupils, who
voted on the activities with their very immediate responses - accurate
and honest judges! - and to the staff whose opinion was sought in the
experimental stage.
Anna Panter
, early
years teacher, for all her support through the years, and in particular
with the assessment sheets, and help and guidance with curriculum
links. Anna has also written an article in Eye Contact 39, the magazine
for the Royal National Institute for the Blind, which is also on
www.tacpac.co.uk.
Sue Murray
(Blind
and Low Vision Education Network New Zealand) for her
invaluable contribution to the theory and applications of Tacpac.
The group of little people from the Peers
Early Education Partnership (PEEP)
for lending a hand for the Handypac photos!
.
Sounds
of Intent project for their research on charting
the musical development of pupils with profound and multiple learning
difficulties.
Russell Stone
for giving so generously of time and spirit to the recording of all the
18 pieces of music - with his experience, patience, and attention to
detail he has expertly guided us to help realise our musical ideas.
Jan
Morgan Wood
is a visionary artist, who has created all the hand drawn art work for
both TacpacTM One and TacpacTM Two. Jan understands the needs of
practitioners working with TacpacTM, and has a knack of sensing and
portraying the touch and movement of the activities in her pictures.
Leo
Rutherford,
who has done the announcements for TacpacTM One and TacpacTM Two. Thanks to
Leo, who so enjoyed doing this, and has given his support to TacpacTM
with such a full heart. In case you ever wondered, Leo has a smiling
face, twinkling eyes, and looks a bit like Father Christmas!
Gerard
McMullan
in Sydney for his generous time and sage advice in helping us always
think ahead, so that we can continue to develop Tacpac and make it
available to more and more people.
